Economic Development Interim Report

INTERIM REPORT TO STEERING COMMITTEE - PRESCOTT2050 - 9/25/08
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STUDY GROUP Page 1
1) OVERVIEW
Our Study Group has used the scenario method to describe our findings on the themes/factors that might impact the future economic growth of the City of Prescott. The scenario approach allows us to convey the interrelationships of these factors as well as the breadth of the issue of future economic development. Buried in the Scenario are the recommendations/projects, some of which are specific enough to allow suggested actions.  A copy of the Scenario, titled “Moving to Prescott in 2030 – A Vision” is included, but it is always undergoing revisions. At the request of the Steering Committee we have added a new “vision statement” that is more comprehensive.

Our work will ultimately be reported, based on the Scenario, with the following format:
* Themes/ Factors, overarching issues that impact economic growth positively or negatively
* General Recommendations that are not specific enough to result in suggested actions
* Specific Recommendations/Projects with recommended actions and time-tables

This interim report will focus on “Themes and Factors” and some “General and Specific Recommendations/Projects”. Possible overlaps with other Study Groups will be identified in both areas. Time-lines will be suggested for the General and Specific recommendations/projects, where appropriate. Please recognize that these are preliminary and also that there are additional recommendations/projects to follow.
